چکیده
I just returned from a conference at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) titled "Biomaterials and Medical Implant Science." This meeting's recommendations will undoubtedly influence much of what we do, or plan to do, ill biomaterials and biomechanics research in the rest of this decade and into the next century. Accordingly, the JOMI readership should be most interested in the meeting's results. A complete report will be forthcoming soon from NIH, but in the meantime, what follows can serve as one participant's informal report back to that segment of the biomaterials community interested in oral and maxillofacial implants.

The antibacterial activity of an epoxy resin-based dental sealer containing bioactive glass, hydroxyapatite, and fluorohydroxyapatite nanoparticles against Enterococcus Faecalis and Streptococcus mitis
Objective(s): The present study aimed to investigate the antibacterial properties of a conventional epoxy-based dental sealer modified with synthesized bioactive glass (BG), hydroxyapatite (HA), and fluorine-substituted hydroxyapatite (FHA) nano-fillers. Materials and Methods: The synthesized nano-fillers were incorporated into the conventional epoxy-based dental seaer at the concentratio...
متن کاملCORROSION BEHAVIOR OF BIOACTIVATED TITANIUM DENTAL IMPLANT USING DIFFERENT CHEMICAL METHODS
At the past, damaged tissue was removed from the body of patients. But now tissue regeneration using scaffolds and implants are used to repair the damaged tissue and organs. Besides of the mechanical properties of metallic biomaterials, they suffer from bioinertness. Using some surface treatment techniques, the bioactivity and also corrosion resistance of titanium implants could be improved. In...

The purpose of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial properties of a conventionalpoly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) modified with hydrothermally synthesised titaniumdioxide nanotubes (TNTs). Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), minimum bactericidalconcentration (MBC), and minimum fungicidal concentrations (MFC) for planktonic cellsof the TiO2 nanotubes solution against Lactobacillus a...
متن کاملBiomaterials and host versus graft response: A short review
Biomaterials and biotechnology are increasing becoming an important area in modern medicine. The main aim in this area is the development of materials, which are biocompatible to normal tissue. Tissue-implant interactions with molecular, biological and cellular characteristics at the implant-tissue interface are important for the use and development of implants. Implantation may cause an inflam...
